Vehicle starts poorly in cold weather

Ethanol is less flammable than gasoline, so the vehicle may not always start on the first attempt. Normally the vehicle starts on the 1 - 3 attempt even in cold weather. If the vehicle’s spark plugs or ignition coils are defective or reach their full working life, the start may require few extra tries.

How to repair

  • Use engine preheater in cold weather. It is recommended also with gasoline and even when vehicle starts at the first attempt
  • Add a gallon or two of gasoline
  • Change spark plugs or ignition coils
