“NATURALLY ASPIRATED WON’T MAKE POWER!”
“Nothing is going to happen if you don’t change timing.”
“No way you’ll make power out of a little 4-banger without tuning.”
Spoiler Alert:
They were all wrong!
The number of doubters and non-believers out there astonishes us. Is it because people love to repeat what they read online? We don’t blame them - but we do need to educate them!
In this episode of Fuel Wars! we strap an eFlex equipped 2015 Honda Civic Si 2.4L to the dyno to compare E85 Vs Premium gas performance. No adjustments or user inputs were made, just switching fuel and letting the eFlex kit do its thing.
These results were purely from eFlexFuel’s dynamic fuel delivery & E85’s chemical properties working together!
eFlex + E85 Vs Gas Results
-
+30.26 Wheel Horsepower & +24.27 Wheel Torque max gains under the curve with E85. That’s a 19.1% increase in WHP!
-
Peak gains of +15.35 WHP & +7.77 WTQ at the very top-end.
-
HP gains were observed across the entire powerband with massive 20-30 WHP gains throughout VTEC.
-
All gains achieved instantly, safely, and with zero tuning or ECU re-flashing.
What is Peak Gain Vs Max Gain? Which one matters?
Both Peak Gains and Max Gains (AKA Curve Gains) measure performance difference between runs, just in a different area:
Peak Gain is the difference in horsepower or torque at the HP peak of each run, or the highest measured HP/TQ. This is the peak HP/TQ number from the run.
Max Gain/Curve Gain is the largest measured difference in HP/TQ between the two runs, or the greatest increase in HP/TQ anywhere in the powerband. This usually takes place under the curve, which is why some refer to this measurement as “curve gain.”
Max Gain/Curve Gain typically reflect the “seat-of-your-pants” performance increase you feel because it’s where you spend time driving, under the curve and inside the powerband. Peak gain, on the other hand, is just a momentary peak in performance, often at redline.
How Do eFlex Kits Make Power Without Tuning?
eFlexFuel E85 kits deliver dynamic fueling that allows your vehicle to extract maximum efficiency and performance out of E85’s chemical properties.
